ABOUT THE MILLER FAMILY
Recognized as one of California’s most respected winegrowing families, the Miller Family is a fifth generation California farming family with agricultural roots on the Central Coast tracing back to 1871, when ancestor William Richard Broome acquired the Rancho Guadalasca land grant which included a portion of land that is now known as Point Mugu State Park near Malibu. Upon his death, the farmland was inherited by William Broome’s son, Thornhill Broome, and for over 100 years, the Broome/Miller family has continued its agricultural tradition on the Central Coast. Thornhill Companies current CEO Steve Thornhill Broome Miller is Thornhill Broome’s grandson.
Stephen Miller represents the fourth generation of California farming. In 1973, capping off an incredible year for vineyard development in the central coast, Steve and his brother Bob also championed the development of the French Camp Vineyard in Paso Robles. Recognizing the potential of this unique site with the largest day/night temperature change, the Millers have helped to raise the universally recognized profile of Paso Robles within the wine industry. Steve was subsequently celebrated as Paso Robles Farmer of the Year
Nicholas Miller: Nicholas Miller is Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Miller Family Wine Company and is a fifth generation California farmer and wine industry leader. Nicholas cut his teeth in a marketing consulting firm in Boston before finally returning to California to work full-time with the Thornhill Companies in 2004. Today, Nicholas is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Miller Family Wine Company. He sits on several boards and associations, including the California Association of Winegrape Growers and the Wine Institute. In 2013 Nicholas was named one of the Top 40 Under 40 Taste Makers in America by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
Marshall Miller: Marshall Miller is among the fifth generation of his family to work in agriculture in California. He serves as Vice President of Operations at Miller Family Wine Company. Before joining the family business on a permanent basis, Marshall obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. His previous work experience includes alternative investment research at CTC Consulting in Portland, OR. He has a professional interest in environmental law and fiscal management.
